Verizon Update 1/31/02

If this is your first newsletter, you may want to peruse through previous updates here to gain further detailed information:

A.  Teletruth

Despite facing a number of class action suits, multi-million dollar fines, perfunctory warnings from various agencies, etc, Verizon has continued to engage in poor operating practices that are hurting consumers.

Although consumers have won a few battles, VZ has been able to control the war...until now.  Enter:

www.teletruth.org

Teletruth is the long awaited answer to the growing problem of Verizon's monopoly and also to that of the other bell's exclusive control over telecommunications in their regions.  This new organization represents an alliance between companies, business owners and all individuals who have wanted to do something about the growing issue.

Teletruth will be to the bells, what AOL is to Microsoft...the ultimate thorn in the side.  The following link may explain it best:

B.  Thomas Alibone

For those of you operate businesses with phone bills that total over $1,000 per month, this is your lucky day.  If you are an individual who's bills are under $1,000, it will be your lucky day as well in the not too distant future.

Some findings are showing that an unprecedented number of phone bills have long-standing errors on them.  Possibly as high as 50%!  Thomas Alibone is a man who makes his living off of saving people money on their bills.  It is as simple as sending him a copy of your phone bill, and he will do a free analysis to determine how much you have been losing over the years.  His only fee is a portion of the refund, i.e. money that you would never have seen in the first place!  Currently he is working with operations who's bills are greater than $1,000 per month, however in the future, it is likely that all bills regardless of magnitude will be considered.  For a limited time however, all residents of New Jersey may send in their bill no matter the size.  If you are a NJ resident, follow this link:

C.  Recovering Losses

If you are in a dispute with Verizon and believe that they owe you money, you may be rather amazed at how effective threatening litigation is.  After doing so, I personally received a nice check to cover the verifiable losses that I had.  Unbeknownst to most, if you send a letter stating your intent to sue, you may be able to receive triple damages in the event that they do not respond within 30 days.  Contact your attorney general's office to discover more.

D.  Verizoneatspoop

On a lighter and more comical note, the website verizoneatspoop.com (yes, this is a real site!) has been put on notice that they will be sued if they follow through on their endeavor to print a mocking shirt bearing the Verizon logo.  VZ was successful in scaring away the first printer, however verizoneatspoop is looking for another vendor who may be interested in printing the shirts for them.  If anyone knows of a vendor that would like the business and will stand up for theirs rights, please refer them to verizoneatspoop.com.  To read about the situation in full, click below:
