What I am about to divulge next I know to be true, and I will state it exactly as I came to hear it. For the reader, it will have to be up to you whether or not you decide to believe it. A close friend of mine was consulting for Pac Bell a number of years ago. While performing some work, he entered into a conversation with one of the senior employees there. During the conversation, the consultant asked the Pac Bell rep why the Bells have never rolled out ISDN. The rep replied, "Simple...because you can carry more than one phone line over ISDN and we realized that it would wipe out our market for secondary line installations." Heaven forbid that the consumer should actually save some money...
